Local Priorities
-
Release funds to ensure the construction of the tramway linking Ottawa to Aylmer and mobilise a construction team as quickly as possible.
-
Funding for the construction of new Canadair water bombers to act quickly in the event of forest fires in our forests: Gatineau Park, Boucher Forest, Algonquin Park, etc.
-
Ensure that civil servants are paid fairly for their work (adjustment for inflation).
-
Mobilise the army quickly in the event of a disaster, so that it can be trained to operate the machinery needed to help mitigate the undeniable effects of climate change.
-
Construction of a new bridge favouring all forms of green transportation so that the population collectively adopts sustainable means of transport: carpooling, taxis, hybrid buses, electric cars with a lane reserved for active transport (cycling, walking).
-
Feed, house, transport and pay the homeless who are willing to work to green the society. Therefore, give them more support to promote their social integration in order to ensure a local ecological transition. These green jobs will consist of reforesting areas, planting and maintaining community gardens and doing manual work for the construction of a sustainable project (for example, the tramway).
-
Encourage companies to build affordable housing, subsidised in part by the government, that adopts green construction: green roofs, green parking, creation of shaded walkways, replacing lawns with urban gardens to stimulate biodiversity, etc.
-
Bringing generations closer together by providing daily green shuttles from retirement homes to local schools. There is a shortage of childcare and this would greatly help schools in the short term. Older people would act as volunteers to help young people socialise more with each other.
-
Legislate the replacement of plastic bags with bags made from plant-based materials that are 100% compostable and encourage bulk buying to reduce food costs.
-
Make the civil service an example to follow in the management of residual materials (sort all waste).
Québec Priorities
-
Subsidise cooperative housing companies to balance their financial losses. This will ensure that the population has somewhere to live and thus save money in the long term.
-
Move towards renewable energy with solar panels, with the possibility of making it a national priority.
-
Adopt ecological choices in terms of food and thus help the population to live with healthy habits. In addition, the development of biomethanisation in Quebec is gradually replacing diesel production.
-
Give a voice to the indigenous peoples of Quebec to ensure close collaboration with the Quebec government (education, exploitation of resources, job creation, etc.).
-
Support television productions that encourage the collective adoption of ecological measures (documentaries, children's programmes, reports, short films, etc.).
Canada Priorities
-
Promote a green energy corridor in the country by prioritising solar panels to create several power stations. This network will allow electric vehicles to recharge if they cross Canada, and support High-Speed Trains connecting Quebec City to Toronto). Accordingly, stop subsidising oil and gas companies within a reasonable timeframe, seeing the pipeline as a medium-term alternative solution to the threat of tariffs imposed by the United States.
-
Respond effectively to the housing crisis by subsidising companies that build prefabricated and modular homes to reduce the cost to first-time buyers. The elimination of the GST on the purchase of a first property will also be put forward.
-
Provide immediate short-term financial assistance to companies penalised by US tariffs. In this way, encourage a transition towards national sovereignty for several types of companies.
-
Greening agricultural techniques by subsidising electric tractors and agricultural robots; legally recognising all farm animals as sentient beings so that euthanasia is better regulated.
-
The most affluent Canadians (1%) will be taxed to help to reduce societal inequalities gradually, without affecting their well-being. Tax evasion must be taken seriously and taxed like any other contribution. Furthermore, maintaining the increase in the taxable portion of capital gains exceeding $250,000 at two-thirds rather than abandoning it. In addition, the principle of making corporate polluters pay, brought in by the government in recent years, must be strengthened, in particular by introducing a tax on fuel for international flights.
